TRADITIONAL RUSTIC SWEDISH PAINTED PINE CUPBOARD CIRCA 1821.

EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF THIS TYPE OF RURAL FURNITURE MAKING, MADE FROM SOLID PINE.

MAIN BODY IS 1 PIECE WITH THE TOP CORNICE REMOVABLE AND HELD IN PLACE BY PEGS. MAIN PAINT SCHEME IS A BLUE/GREEN COMPLEMENTED BY A RUSTY RED, FURTHER HAND PAINTED WITH FLOWERS AND DETAILING AND DATED 1821.

TOP SECTION WITH DOUBLE DOOR CUPBOARD OPENS TO A SINGLE FIXED SHELF AND UPPER RACK, WITH 2 PULL OUT DRAWERS BELOW. TO OPEN THE DRAWERS THE DOORS NEED TO OPEN, WHICH IS NORMAL FOR THIS TYPE OF FURNITURE.

LOWER SINGLE DOOR CUPBOARD WITH CANTED SIDES, WHICH CONTAINS A SINGLE FIXED DRAWER.

THIS PIECE HAS NEVER BEEN FITTED WITH LOCKS AND OVER TIME HAVE DEVELOPED THEIR OWN WAY OF KEEPING CLOSED. EXPECTED SURFACE MARKS AND AGE SPLITS, BUT THE PIECE IS STRUCTURALLY SOUND AND IN ORIGINAL CONDITION.
