Description

This early 19th century Swedish hand painted cupboard, circa 1804, is a charming example of folk art furniture decorated in the kurbit method of applying paint. Its brown base colour reveals muted greens and oranges, with a contrasting green/blue interior. The one piece body stands on six bun feet, its pegged cornice bearing the hand painted date. All original bar a small replaced backboard and two new pegs, it shows only very minor losses and fading and is ready for everyday use.
