MID 19TH CENTURY SWEDISH FOLK ART HAND PAINTED COFFER CIRCA 1849.

WE ARE PLEASED TO OFFER THIS STUNNING MID 19TH CENTURY COFFER WITH ORIGINAL PAINT. HAND DECORATED USING A RAGWORK TECHNIQUE FORMING A SYMETRICAL PATTERN. INITIALED ‘CBD’ AND DATED 1849.

DOME TOP LIFTS TO REVEAL A UNPAINTED INTERIOR WITH FITTED CANDLE BOX. STANDING ON BLACK PAINTED SLEDGE FEET. COMPLETE WITH ORIGINAL LOCK AND KEY.

ADAPTED ON THE LID FOR AN ADDITIONAL KEY HOLE. EXPECTED LOSSES TO PAINTWORK, AND MINOR SHRINKAGE TO WOODWORK, BUT STRUCTURALLY SOUND AND READY FOR EVERYDAY USE.
