Description

This fine pair of Swedish carved elm commodes, circa 1850, is a rare survival of two chests still together. Book-matched veneered elm tops with rounded corners flow into hand-carved candy twist columns down each side, with three drawers plus a shaped bottom drawer, ornate ormolu handles housing the keyholes, working locks and key, and carved paw front feet. Fully restored and re-polished by hand in our workshop, with minor surface marks and slight colour variation from natural daylight fading; one bottom drawer shows natural shrinkage but still functions and locks.
