Description

This fine pair of Swedish painted pine commodes, circa 1880, is in the Gustavian taste, each with a serpentine front beneath an overhanging top, three drawers fitted with ornate ring handles and working locks and key, a shaped frieze and cabriole legs. The later applied paint has taken on a weathered, faded appearance, with minor surface marks in line with age and use.

FINE QUALITY PAIR OF SCANDINAVIAN CHEST OF DRAWERS IN THE GUSTAVIAN TASTE, WHICH COULD WORK WELL AS A PAIR OF LARGE BEDSIDE TABLES.

SERPENTINE SHAPED FRONTS WHICH STARTS WITH THE SLIGHTLY OVER HANGING TOP SURFACE. EACH FITTED WITH 3 DRAWERS OF EQUAL PROPORTION, ORNATE RING HANDLES, WORKING LOCKS AND KEY. SHAPED FREIZE TO FRONT AND SIDES, RAISED ON CABRIOLE LEGS.

LATER APPLIED PAINT, WHICH HAS SINCE TAKEN ON A WEATHERED/FADED APPEARANCE. EXPECTED MINOR SURFACE MARKS IN LINE WITH AGE AND USE.
