Description

This late Georgian architects desk in mahogany, circa 1810, offers a green leather writing surface with gold-tooled border that rises to various angles using its brass handle. Three lockable drawers with cock beaded edging are fitted with later handles, and the desk stands on turned fluted legs with ebonised elements and original brass castors. Showing typical signs of use to the later leather top and surface marks to the woodwork, it retains a good colour and patina.

GREEN LEATHER WRITING SURFACE WITH GOLD TOOLING TO THE BORDER. SET IN THE TOP AND USING THE BRASS HANDLE THE SLOPE CAN RISE TO VARIOUS ANGLES. ROUNDED CORNERS TO THE RECTANGULAR TOP. 3 LOCKABLE DRAWERS WITH COCK BEADED EDGING AND FITTED WITH LATER HANDLES. RAISED ON 4 TURNED FLUTED GILLOW LEGS WITH EBONISED ELEMENTS, COMPLETE WITH ORIGINAL BRASS CASTORS.

LATER LEATHER TOP WHICH HAS TYPICAL SIGNS OF USE, LATER REPLACED HANDLES, SURFACE MARKS TO WOODWORK.
