Description

This Swedish dome top chest, dated 1846 and initialled on the front, is a charming piece of folk art in pine. Its hand painted florals speak of a cherished past, while the interior retains an original painted inscription to the lid and a fitted candle box. Original hinges and strap work survive, with expected wear, minor age splits and evidence of previously treated worm.

BEAUTIFUL DOME TOP CHEST, WHICH WAS CLEARLY CHERISHED BY THE LEVEL OF DECORATION. INITIALLED ON THE FRONT AND DATED 1846, SURROUNDED BY HAND PAINTED FLORALS. INTERIOR WITH ORIGINAL HAND PAINTED INSCRIPTION TO THE LID, COMPLETE WITH FITTED CANDLE BOX.

ORIGINAL HINGES AND STRAP WORK, ORIGINAL LOCK IS PRESENT BUT NOT FITTED BECAUSE THERE IS NO KEY.

STANDING ON PAINTED PLINTH BASE.

EXPECTED WEAR, MINOR AGE SPLITS. EVIDENCE OF PREVIOUS DEAD INACTIVE TREATED WORM.
