Description

This William IV rosewood writing slope, circa 1835, is an elegant and good quality example with clean lines. The working original lock opens the lid down to form a writing surface, retaining its original leather, while the top reveals a pen tray and compartments that lift out to expose a secret single drawer. With its original mother of pearl cartouche named and dated 1835, it shows only very minor shrinkage to the lid and light surface marks from use, sitting true and flat.

ELEGANT AND GOOD QUALITY WILLIAM IV ROSEWOOD WRITING SLOPE.

CLEAN ELEGANT LINES, COME WITH ORIGINAL MOTHER OF PEARL CARTOUCHE, NAMED AND DATED 1835. WORKING ORIGINAL LOCK OPENS FOR THE LID TO COME DOWN TO FORM A WRITING SURFACE, WITH ORIGINAL LEATHER SURFACE, WHICH ALSO FOLDS BACK ON ITSELF FOR FURTHER STORAGE. TOP LID OPENS TO REVEAL THE PEN TRAY AND VARIOUS COMPARTMENTS, THIS ALSO LIFTS OUT TO REVEAL A SECRET SINGLE DRAWER.

FINE QUALITY EXAMPLE. VERY MINOR SHRINKAGE TO LID, BUT DOESN’T EFFECT LOCK FUNCTION, IMPORTANTLY SITS TRUE AND FLAT. VERY MINOR SURFACE MARKS FROM USE.
