This Swedish dome top coffer, circa 1852, is a rare example of a folk art trunk hand painted in oak rather than the pine more usually used. Painted by Jons Persson of Valleberga on a blue base with red, green and yellow swags and flowers, it retains its original painted iron strap work, hinges, lock and key, with expected surface marks and fading.
