Description

This Swedish Gustavian chest of drawers, circa 1820, is made from oak with three serpentine-fronted drawers and shaped sides. The early 20th century blue paint has taken on a distressed appearance, with a hand painted faux marble top and later ornate brass handles and key plates. Original locks remain with a working key; there are obvious losses to the paintwork and minor surface marks, but it is structurally sound and ready for everyday use.

3 DRAWER COMMODE WITH SHAPED SIDES AND SERPENTINE SHAPED DRAWER FRONTS. MADE FROM OAK WITH LATER EARLY 20TH CENTURY PAINT WHICH HAS NOW TAKEN ON A DISTRESSED APPEARANCE. HAND PAINTED FAUX MARBLE TOP SURFACE. FITTED WITH LATER ORNATE BRASS HANDLES AND KEY PLATES. ORIGINAL LOCKS AND WORKING KEY.

STANDING ON 4 CABRIOLE LEGS.

OBVIOUS LOSSES TO PAINT WORK AND MINOR SURFACE MARKS. STRUCTURALLY SOUND AND READY FOR EVERYDAY USE.
