This small Swedish painted pine strong box, circa 1842, is a charming piece of Scandinavian folk art character. Its scraped-back paint reveals the original hot pink finish, with a slight blue wash on the metalwork and the faint remains of its 1842 date. Original hinges and carrying handles survive, while the lid opens to a later painted interior complete with candle box. Expected surface marks and minor age splits leave it robust and ready for everyday use.

ORIGINAL HINGES AND CARRYING HANDLES. LID OPENS TO REVEAL A LATER PAINTED INTERIOR, COMPLETE WITH CANDLE BOX.
