Description

This massive pair of Royal Doulon stoneware jars with lids, stamped and dated 17.03.41, were made during the Second World War and are believed to have been produced for the RMS to carry alcohol. Each jar is a four-man lift empty, so full they would have needed winching into position. The lids show small chips with restorations, yet are rare to survive at all — striking decorative pieces that could be adapted to a modern purpose or enjoyed as they stand.
