This pair of large French abstract panels, circa 1950, are worked in acrylic and resin with gold leaf, their composition drawn from browns, oranges, yellows and greens. Originally commissioned as lightbox installation panels and previously hung, they can be displayed lit from behind or viewed from either surface. Minor surface marks are consistent with age.

SCREENS ARE MADE FROM BROWNS, ORANGES, YELLOWS AND GREENS WITH GOLD LEAF IN PLACES.

THEY HAVE BEEN PHOTOGRAPHED WITH FRONT LIGHT, FRONT LIGHT WITH A BLACK BACK DROP BEHIND, AND THEN LIT FROM BEHIND. THIS HAS BEEN PHOTOGRAPHED WITH BOTH SURFACES FACING. PLEASE NOTE THE STUDIO POLE IS CREATING A SHADOW BEHIND THE PIECE AND IS NOT THERE IN REAL LIFE.

THESE WERE COMMISSIONED AS LIGHTBOX INSTALLATION PANELS AS THEY HAVE EVIDENCE OF BEING PREVIOUSLY HUNG. BELIEVED TO BE BY AN ARTIST CALLED TIOMES OR TIMUES BUT WE CAN’T TRACE THE ARTIST.
