This pair of large French acrylic abstract panels dates to circa 1950 and was commissioned as lightbox installation panels, with evidence of having been previously hung. Smooth on one side with the media exposed on the other, they take on a marble-like appearance without backlighting. One panel is signed in the bottom corner, though the artist remains untraced, and there are minor surface marks.

HERE WE OFFER AN IDEAL OPPORTUNITY TO CREATE AN INSTALLTION PIECE. WITHOUT BACK LIGHTING THESE PANELS HAVE A APPEARANCE LIKE MARBLE, SO THEY ARE SMOOTH ON ONE SIDE AND MEDIA IS EXPOSED ON THE OTHER.

THEY HAVE BEEN PHOTOGRAPHED WITH FRONT LIGHT, FRONT LIGHT WITH A BLACK BACK DROP BEHIND, AND THEN LIT FROM BEHIND. THIS HAS BEEN PHOTOGRAPHED WITH BOTH SURFACES FACING. PLEASE NOTE THE STUDIO POLE IS CREATING A SHADOW BEHIND THE PIECE AND IS NOT THERE IN REAL LIFE.

THESE WERE COMMISSIONED AS LIGHTBOX INSTALLATION PANELS AS THEY HAVE EVIDENCE OF BEING PREVIOUSLY HUNG. 1 PANEL IS SIGNED IN THE BOTTOM CORNER TIOMES OR TIMUES BUT WE CAN’T TRACE THE ARTIST.
