Description

A rare pair of Swedish Biedermeier secretaire chests in mahogany, circa 1830. Each chest has four drawers in matched flame mahogany veneer, the top drawer fitted with a satinwood and mahogany interior and pulling down to form a small writing surface. Brass stringing decorates the drawer fronts, flanked by turned columns with gilt collars, and there are expected surface marks with restorations to the veneer.

RARE PAIR OF BIEDERMEIER PERIOD SWEDISH CHEST OF DRAWERS. 4 DRAWERS, EACH TOP DRAWER WITH A FULLY FITTED INTERIOR OF SATINWOOD AND MAHOGANY DRAWERS AND PIGEON HOLES. DRAWER FRONT PULLS DOWN TO FORM A SMALL WRITING SURFACE. DRAWER FRONT DECORATED WITH BRASS STRINGING IN A RECESSED CARTOUCHE.

LOWER DRAWERS DECORATED WITH A BRASS STRUNG APPLIED CORNUCOPIA, EACH DRAWER WITH VENEER IN MATCHED FLAME MAHOGANY, FLANKED EITHER SIDE BY A TURNED COLUMN WITH GILT COLLARS.
