Description

A fine quality Swedish burr walnut commode, circa 1730, in the Gustavian manner. The serpentine over sailing top is inlaid with a hunting scene, and the three shaped drawer fronts carry inlay and stringing, all warmed by a beautiful natural colour that has taken nearly 300 years to develop. With a replaced back and drawer linings, minor losses to the woodwork and original escutcheons, and one replaced back foot.
