Description

A fine quality Regency davenport writing desk, circa 1820, in wood with a spindle gallery above the original leather writing surface. The top opens to reveal a richly coloured interior with two drawers, while the writing slope lifts on brass arms to hold a level surface. Four lockable drawers and a pull-out pen tray sit to one side, mirrored by dummies opposite, all on a plinth base with brass castors. There is some loss to the original leather and minor surface marks and restorations to the veneer.

WRITING SLOPE LIFTS UP AND WITH THE AID OF 2 BRASS ARMS, MAINTAINS A LEVEL WRITING SURFACE.

4 LOCKABLE DRAWERS TO ONE SIDE WITH PULL OUT PEN TRAY, MIRRORED ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE WITH DUMMIES. STANDING ON PLINTH BASE WITH BRASS CASTORS.

SOME LOSS TO LEATHER SURFACE BUT IS ORIGINAL. MINOR SURFACE MARKS AND RESTORATIONS TO VENEER.
