19TH CENTURY TUNBRIDGE WARE WRITING BOX CIRCA 1880.

VICTORIAN WALNUT DESKTOP BOX WHICH OPENS INTO A WRITING SLOPE. DECORATED ON THE OUTSIDE WITH 2 DECORATIVE INLAID TUNBRIDGE WARE BANDS AND AROUND THE KEYHOLE.

BOX OPENS OUT TO A FABRIC WRITING SLOPE WHICH OPENS BOTH WAYS TO ALLOW ACCESS FOR FURTHER STORAGE. EBONISED COVER TO THE PEN TRAY WHICH IS LIKELY TO BE A LATER REPLACEMENT. NO INK BOTTLE PRESENT.

BOX WITH REPAIRED AGE SPLIT TO TOP. FABRIC TO SLOPE IS IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT AS THIS FORMS THE HINGE FOR THE 2 COMPARTMENTS.
