Description

This Scandinavian carved walnut desk, circa 1920, is a handsome piece in the Rococo Revival manner. The rectangular three-part segmented top is encased in a walnut border above a fluted apron concealing two shallow drawers with small locking bolts. Carved and turned supports with applied swags unite at a floor-level stretcher. Fully refurbished in our workshop and re-polished by hand, it retains its rich colour, with one high-standard veneer repair and very minor ripples to the top surface.

Dealer notes

SCANDINAVIAN EARLY 20TH CARVED WALNUT DESK CIRCA 1920.

HERE WE OFFER A BEAUTIFUL TABLE WITH NEO CLASSICAL/ITALIAN INSPIRATION, WHICH HAS BEEN MADE IN WALNUT.

RECTANGULAR TOP WITH A 3 PART SEGMENTED DESIGN TO THE TOP ENCASED IN A WALNUT BORDER. FLUTED APRON WHICH HOUSES THE 2 CONCEALED SHALLOW DRAWERS, WHICH HAVE SMALL BOLTS FOR LOCKING. RAISED ON A PAIR OF PAIR OF CARVED AND TURNED SUPPORTS, APPLIED SWAGS TO THE BULBOUS ELEMENT THAT LINKS DOWN TO THE HEAVILY CARVED SCROLLING FEET. SUPPORTS UNITED BY A CARVED FLOOR LEVEL STRETCHER.

TABLE COULD ALSO BE USED FOR DINING OR IN A RECEPTION ROOM, BUT WE THINK IT LENDS ITSELF PERFECTLY TO BEING A DESK.
