Description

This Swedish birch chest of drawers, circa 1884, is a good quality Empire period piece in an unusual birch with a sappy grain and a rich golden colour. It has a rectangular top with rounded front corners, a shaped top drawer above three further drawers fitted with their original leather embossed escutcheons, working keys and locks. There is one small indentation to the top drawer front and a small area of restoration to the lower drawer front; evidence of dead, inactive worm has been treated. Ready for everyday use.

GOOD QUALITY CHEST OF DRAWERS THAT WAS EASY TO DATE AS IT WAS WRITTEN ON THE BACK IN PENCIL.

MADE IN AN UNUSUAL BIRCH WITH QUITE A SAPPY GRAIN. RECTANGULAR TOP WITH ROUNDED FRONT CORNERS AND MOULDING.

SHAPED TOP DRAWER WITH A FURTHER 3 DRAWERS OF EQUAL PROPORTION BELOW, EACH FITTED WITH IT’S ORIGINAL LEATHER EMBOSSED ESCUTHEON, WORKING KEY AND LOCKS. SHAPED FLOOR LEVEL FREIZE TO FRONT AND SIDES.

GOOD RICH GOLDEN COLOUR AS BIRCH OF THIS PERIOD SHOULD. 1 SMALL INDENTATION TO TOP DRAWER FRONT, 1 SMALL AREA OF RESTORATION TO LOWER DRAWER FRONT. EVIDENCE OF DEAD INACTIVE WORM, WHICH HAS BEEN TREATED. READY FOR EVERYDAY USE.
