Description

This hand painted pine storage box, circa 1840 in the folk art tradition, is decorated in green with hand painted florals to the lid bearing the initials MJD and an anno date of 1797. Further kurbit technique painting adorns the front, and the near square box opens to reveal an unpainted interior for storage, raised on small bun feet. In very good condition for its age with minor surface fading, it remains ready for everyday use.

NEAR SQUARE IN SHAPE THE LID OPENS TO REVEAL AN UNPAINTED INTERIOR FOR STORAGE. FURTHER PAINTING USING A KURBIT TECHNIQUE TO THE FRONT. RAISED ON SMALL BUN FEET.

VERY GOOD CONDITION FOR AGE, MINOR SURFACE FADING AND READY FOR EVERYDAY USE.
