Description

This Victorian carved walnut occasional table, made in Sweden circa 1890 in the Rococo Revival taste, is a fine quality piece with a cartouche-shaped top of matched burr walnut veneer, cross-banded and finished with a moulded edge. The ornate frieze is profusely carved with florals and swags, while the four scrolled legs carry acanthus leaf carving and are united by stretchers with a decorative central finial. Standing on original brass castors, it has a rich colour and finish with only minor surface marks from use.

CARTOUCHE SHAPED TOP WITH A MATCHED BURR WALNUT VENEERED CENTRE AND CROSS BANDED AROUND THE OUTSIDE, FINISHED WITH A MOULDED EDGE. PROFUSELY CARVED ORNATE FREIZE SHOWING FLORALS AND SWAGS. STANDING ON 4 SCROLLED LEGS WITH FURTHER ACANTHUS LEAF CARVING TO THE FOOT. LEGS UNITED BY STRETCHERS WITH CENTRAL DECORATIVE FINIAL.

RAISED ON ORIGINAL BRASS CASTORS.
