Description

This George III serpentine chest of drawers, crafted in mahogany around 1760, is a fine example of Georgian cabinetmaking. The single-piece top sits above four long graduating drawers with cock-beaded edging, retaining their ornate Rococo style handles and escutcheon plates. The brushing slide, covered in maroon velvet, conceals a fitted interior of dividers. Richly coloured and standing on bracket feet, it shows only expected minor surface marks and slight shrinkage to the top, and has been fully re-polished by hand in our workshop.

TOP SURFACE MADE FROM A SINGLE PIECE OF TIMBER. CHEST COMPRISES OF 4 LONG GRADUATING DRAWERS WITH COCK-BEADED EDGING, RETAINING THE ROCOCO STYLE ORNATE HANDLES AND ESCUTHEON PLATE. TOP DRAWER WITH BRUSHING SLIDE COVERED IN A MAROON VELVET, THIS PUSHES BACK TO REVEAL A FITTED INTERIOR OF DIVIDERS.

DEEP RICH COLOUR, STANDING ON BRACKET FEET.

EXPECTED MINOR SURFACE MARKS IN LINE WITH AGE AND USE, MINOR SHRINKAGE TO TIMBER ON TOP SURFACE, OVERALL IN VERY GOOD CONDITION, FULLY RE-POLISHED BY HAND IN OUR WORKSHOP.
