Description

This heavily carved Flemish walnut chair, circa 1890, is a wonderfully decorative piece in the Gothic Revival taste. The back rest carries a mythical head, cherubs, an armorial design and cornucopia, while the front legs are carved with griffins, scrolls and a further mythical head above scrolled feet. It shows a good rich colour and patina, with expected minor restorations to the carving and minor surface marks.
