This early 19th century Empire toleware urn, circa 1830, is a rare decorative piece in original black paint with strong Grecian influences, including gilt painted Greek key detailing and embellishments, and a partially gilt flame finial to the lid. Once used for incense or pot pourri, it shows expected losses to the paintwork and remains a superb period decorative item.

RARE DECORATIVE URN THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN USED FOR INCENSE OR POT POURRI. ORIGINAL BLACK PAINT WITH VERY STRONG GRECIAN INFLUENCES WITH THE GILT PAINTED GREEK KEY AND EMBELLISHMENTS. PARTIALLY GILT FLAME TO THE TOP OF LID.
