Description

This William IV mahogany library desk, circa 1835, retains its original patina, with a writing surface that showcases the beautiful grain of the timber and a subtly contrasting cross-banded border. Rounded corners carry reeded detailing, echoed in cartouche shapes at each corner with ebonised moulding between. Three drawers are fitted with replaced ornate brass handles, while dummy drawers to the reverse make the desk free standing. Raised on scrolled supports and splayed carved legs united by a turned stretcher and brass castors, it has been recently re-polished by hand in our workshop.
