Description

This Flemish carved oak Gothic Revival dining table and matching benches, dating to circa 1890, offers excellent quality with real character. The plain oak top with moulded edges is pegged to trestle bases beautifully carved with Green Man faces, swags and acanthus leaves. Complete with its original plank-seated benches, the set shows good colour and patina, with expected surface marks and minor restorations to age splits.

EXCELLENT QUALITY GREEN MAN TRESTLE DINING TABLE AND MATCHING BENCHES. SIMPLE PLAIN OAK TOP WITH MOULDED EDGES, HELD TO THE TRESTLE BASES BY PEGS. BEAUTIFULLY CARVED TRESTLE ENDS WITH THE GREEN MAN FACE, CARVED SWAGS AND ACANTHUS LEAVES, HELD TOGETHER BY A CENTRAL STRETCHER. COMES COMPLETE WITH ORIGINAL MATCHING BENCHES OF THE SAME MANNER WITH PLANK SEATS.

FINE QUALITY CARVING TO THESE PIECES WITH GOOD COLOUR AND PATINA.

EXPECTED SURFACE MARKS TO WOODWORK, NATURAL SHRINKAGE AND SLIGHT WARPING TO TABLE TOP. MINOR RESTORATIONS TO AGE SPLITS.
