Description

This Swedish inlaid birch games table, circa 1880, is a fine quality piece with a scalloped top and an inlaid playing area in walnut and birch, measuring 25cm by 25cm. It stands on a turned stem with three scrolled legs featuring pierced detailing, and comes supplied with the chess set that came with the table. Showing good colour and patina, it has minor restorations to the woodwork and light surface marks in keeping with its age, and works equally well as a side table.

FINE QUALITY GAMES TABLE IDEAL FOR CHESS. SCALLOPED SHAPED TOP WITH INLAID PLAYING AREA IN WALNUT AND BIRCH. PLAYING AREA OF 25CM X 25CM. SUPPLIED WITH A CHESS SET WHICH CAME WITH THE TABLE. RAISED ON A TURNED STEM AND STANDING ON 3 SCROLLED LEGS WITH PIERCED DETAILING.

THE TABLE LENDS ITSELF TO BEING JUST USED AS A SIDE TABLE INSTEAD OF A DEDICATED GAMES TABLE.

GOOD COLOUR AND PATINA.

MINOR RESTORATIONS TO WOODWORK, MINOR SURFACE MARKS IN LINE WITH AGE AND USE. 1 REPLACED PAWN TO CHESS SET.
