Description

This Swedish Rococo bombe bureau desk, circa 1750, is beautifully made from yew wood and elm with parquetry, inlay and cross banding. Its concave fall opens to a fitted interior of drawers with document storage above, while three shaped drawers below carry ornate ormolu handles and original locks with key. Standing on splayed feet linked by a shaped frieze, it retains its original colour and patina, has been recently fully restored in our workshop and is ready for everyday use.

STUNNING SWEDISH ROCOCO PERIOD BOMBE SHAPED BUREAU. BEAUTIFULLY MADE FROM YEW WOOD AND ELM, USING VARIOUS TECHNIQUES SUCH AS PARQUETRY, INLAY AND CROSS BANDING.

TOP SURFACE AND SIDES DECORATED IN ARRANGED VENEERS OF YEW, LINKS TO THE SLIGHTLY CONCAVE SHAPED FALL. FALL RESTS ON PULL OUT BARERS AND GIVES A WRITING HEIGHT OF 31 INCHES, 78.75CM. GENEROUS WRITING SURFACE AND GREETED BY AN INTERIOR OF FITTED DRAWERS, WITH DOCUMENT STORAGE ABOVE. BELOW THE FALL ARE 3 DRAWERS WHICH COMPLY WITH THE BOMBE SHAPE. FITTED WITH ORNATE ORMOLU HANDLES AND ESCUTHEON PLATES, ORIGINAL LOCKS WITH KEY. DRAWER FRONTS ARE VENEERED IN A CONTRASTING BURR TO GIVE ITS 2 TONE APPEARANCE.

STANDING ON SPLAYED FEET LINKED BY A SHAPED FRIEZE, FURTHER DECORATED WITH ORMOLU MOUNTS.

ORIGINAL COLOUR AND PATINA.
