Description

A good quality pair of Swedish Gustavian commodes, circa 1870, each with a rectangular faux marble top with canted corners, hand painted with marks and veining in green. Fitted with three graduating drawers featuring recessed cartouche shaped fronts and cast brass urn-decorated handles, escutcheons with working locks and key, and four tapered legs. The later paint now shows losses revealing the woodwork beneath, with minor fading to the paintwork; drawer runners run well and the chests are ready for everyday use.

FITTED WITH 3 GRADUATING DRAWERS EACH DETAILED RECESSED CARTOUCHE SHAPED DRAWER FRONTS, AND CAST BRASS HANDLES DECORATED WITH URNS. ESCUTHEONS WITH WORKING LOCKS AND KEY. EACH FITTED WITH 4 TAPERED LEGS.

LATER PAINT WITH NOW HAS LOSSES REVEALING THE WOODWORK UNDERNEATH. MINOR FADING TO PAINTWORK.
