Description

This mid 19th century Swedish folk art coffer, circa 1850, is a fine quality piece of Scandinavian folk art made from solid pine with a slight dome top lid. Painted in a blue and green scheme with an initialed front dated 1841, it retains its original hinges and rope twisted carrying handles, with an unpainted interior housing a candle box. Expected losses and fading to the paintwork, minor age splits and evidence of dead, inactive treated wood worm speak to its honest character.
