Description

This rustic Swedish pine strong box, circa 1850, is a fine small example of the kind once used to keep valuables safe. Presented in scraped-back condition taken to the bare woodwork, it retains its original ornate strap work, key plate and lid handle, opening to reveal storage space. The lock has been patched over with wood some time ago, and there are obvious surface marks, yet it remains a good quality decorative piece that still functions today.

PRESENTED IN A SCRAPED BACK CONDITION, WHICH HAS BEEN TAKEN BACK TO THE BARE WOODWORK. COMPLETE WITH ORIGINAL ORNATE STRAP WORK AND KEY PLATE. ORIGINAL HANDLE TO LID WHICH OPENS TO REVEAL STORAGE SPACE.

LOCK HAS BEEN PATCHED OVER WITH WOOD, QUITE SOME TIME AGO.

OBVIOUS SURFACE MARKS TO WOODWORK, GOOD QUALITY DECORATIVE ITEM THAT STILL FUNCTIONS TODAY.
