MID 19TH CENTURY PAINTED PINE BLANKET CHEST CIRCA 1840.

GOOD QUALITY MID 19TH CENTURY PAINTED PINE BOX WHICH IS LIKELY TO BE FROM SCANDINAVIA. FLAT 2 PLANK TOP WITH MOULDED EDGE, ORIGINAL PAINT TO TOP, FRONT BACK AND SIDES, WITH REPLACED MOULDED AROUND THE STAR SHAPES AND AROUND THE BASE.

LID OPENS TO REVEAL AN INTERIOR OF A FIXED SHELF AND CANDLE BOX, WITH PLENTY OF ROOM FOR STORAGE. ORIGINAL HINGES AND LOCK, BUT NO KEY.

USEFUL FOR MANY PURPOSES AROUND THE HOME AND WITH A DESIRABLE FLAT WHICH OPENS IT UP FOR USE AS A COFFEE TABLE. STANDING ON SHORT BLOCK FEET.

EXPECTED SURFACE MARKS, LOSSES TO PAINT AND MINOR LOSSES. EVIDENCE OF PREVIOUS WOOD WORM, WHICH HAS BEEN TREATED AND NO LONGER ACTIVE.
