Description

This late 19th century birch sewing table, circa 1895, is a good quality find from our travels around Sweden, complete with its original contents. The bookmark veneered top has a strung border and cross banded edge, raised on a lyre form support linking to a quadriform base and turned feet. A single drawer with working lock and key opens to reveal a partially fitted interior of compartments and fixed bowl dishes, with further storage illustrated by the sewing items kept with the piece. Recently re-polished by hand in our workshop, it shows minor surface marks and retains a good rich colour.
