Description

A fine quality George III walnut bureau, circa 1790, fitted with a fall that drops onto pull-out slides to reveal an inset leather writing panel with gold tooling. The fully fitted interior offers drawers, slides and secret drawers around a central inlaid tabernacle, while below are five oak-lined drawers with cock beaded edging and original ornate brass handles. Raised on ogee bracket feet, it shows expected minor surface marks and age splits, with good colour and patina, ready for everyday use.

FINE QUALITY GEORGE III PERIOD WALNUT BUREAU, FITTED WITH A FALL AND 2 OVER 3 DRAWERS.

FALL DROPS DOWN ONTO PULL OUT SLIDES TO PROVIDE THE WRITING SURFACE, WITH AN INSET LEATHER PANEL WITH GOLD TOOLING. FULLY FITTED INTERIOR OF DRAWERS AND SLIDES AND PLENTY OF SECRET DRAWERS AROUND THE CENTRAL INLAID TABERNACLE. BELOW ARE 5 OAK LINED DRAWERS, WITH COCK BEADED EDGING, COMPLETE WITH ORIGINAL ORNATE BRASS HANDLES.

RAISED ON 4 OGEE BRACKET FEET. HEAVY PIECE.

EXPECTED MINOR SURFACE MARKS, AGE SPLITS TO SIDES DUE TO NATURAL SHRINKAGE. EXPECTED RIPPLING TO TOP SURFACE. GOOD COLOUR AND PATINA AND READY FOR EVERYDAY USE.
