Description

This Swedish pedestal desk in ebonised birch, circa 1910, is very much in the Empire revival taste. Recently re-finished in our workshop, it has a birch top with an ebonised moulded edge and a single drawer above the knee, while each pedestal door is cross banded in walnut and decorated with applied ebonised plaques. Raised on eight cabriole legs and finished to the reverse so it stands freely, it retains working locks and key, its rich golden colour maintained throughout restoration. Very minor surface marks are in keeping with age and use, leaving it ready for everyday enjoyment.
