EARLY 19TH CENTURY PAINTED PINE BLANKET BOX CIRCA 1828.
FINE EXAMPLE OF THE TRADITIONAL METHOD OF STORAGE IN SWEDEN, UTILISING THE PLENTIFUL PINE AND HAND DECORATING.
RECTANGULAR BOX WITH A FLAT LID, WHICH MAKES IT IDEAL TO DOUBLE UP AS A COFFEE TABLE. HAND PAINTED IN A PLUM RED WITH SIMULATED GRAIN EFFECT OVER THE TOP. INITIALED ON THE FRONT K.E.D AND DATED 1828.
ORIGINAL METAL WORK. WORKING LOCK AND KEY. LID OPENS TO REVEAL A PLAIN INTERIOR WITH FITTED CANDLE BOX.
EXPECTED MINOR SHRINKAGE BUT STRUCTURALLY SOUND. CLEAR FADING TO PAINTWORK.
