Description

This characterful Scandinavian Baroque box, crafted in oak around 1720, is profusely covered with iron edging and strap work, its oval shape softened by a great patina. The lid opens to reveal the original leather strap hinge, still fully functioning, alongside the original lock and key. Later fitted with 19th century brass lettering to the lid reading O.L.S., it shows only expected minor age splits and surface marks.

CHARACTERFUL OVAL SHAPED BOX PROFUSELY COVERED WITH IRON EDGING AND STRAP WORK. THIS PIECE HAS TAKEN ON A GREAT PATINA. LID OPENS TO REVEAL THE ORIGINAL STILL FULLY FUNCTIONING LEATHER STRAP HINGE. ORIGINAL LOCK AND KEY, AND STILL READY FOR EVERYDAY USE.

LATER FITTED WITH 19TH CENTURY BRASS LETTERING TO THE LID O.L.S. MADE FROM NUMBERS TO REPRESENT LETTERS.
