This 19th century Swedish water barrel, circa 1880, is a charming piece of rural folk art. Hand hammered from copper and brass into a honeycombed shape, it retains its original patina and functioning hinged lid, with only the fading and minor dings expected from age and use. A wonderfully decorative item that could serve today as a log bin or wash basket.

MADE IN COPPER AND HAND HAMMERED INTO SHAPE, THESE VESSELS WERE USED TO STORE WATER IN THE TIMES WHEN THERE WAS NO MAINS WATER, AND WATER WAS TAKEN DIRECTLY FROM A LAKE OR STREAM.

HONEYCOMBED SHAPED WITH FUNCTIONING HINGED LID. IDEAL FOR USE NOW AS A LOG BIN OR EVEN A WASH BASKET. FANTASTIC DECORATIVE ITEM WITH ORIGINAL PATINA. EXPECTED FADING AND MINOR DINGS TO METALWORK IN LINE WITH AGE AND USE.
