Description

A fine quality 19th century butler's tray on its original stand, circa 1870 and unusually made in solid oak in Sweden. The shaped gallery carries hand carved acanthus leaf detail flowing into the sides and carrying handles, while the top surface shows good grain and patina with a moulded lip to the front edge. Raised on substantially turned legs, it stands in good condition with minor surface marks from use and some natural shrinkage to the supports that does not affect its performance — a very practical side table for everyday use.

SHAPED GALLERY WITH HAND CARVED ACANTHUS LEAF DETAIL, THIS SHAPE IS FLOWED INTO THE SIDES AND CARRYING HANDLES. TOP SURFACE WITH GOOD GRAIN AND PATINA, FINISHED WITH A MOULDED LIP TO THE FRONT EDGE. RAISED ON SUBSTANTIALLY TURNED HOLDING LEGS.

VERY PRACTICAL TABLE FOR EVERYDAY USE IN MULTIPLE ROOMS AROUND THE HOME, SUCH AS A LAMP TABLE OR IN THE HALLWAY.

GOOD COLOUR AND PATINA, MINOR SURFACE MARKS FROM USE. NATURAL SHRINKAGE/WARPING TO SUPPORTS BUT NOT EFFECTING ITS PERFORMANCE.
