Description

This striking centre table, made circa 1890 to a George II influenced design, carries a deep layered marble top in greys, greens, browns and reds above a carved Greek key apron with floral and swag decoration in gilt gesso. Hand painted miniature portraits flank cherub-like figures on the long sides, and cabriole legs with ball and claw feet complete the piece. The gilding shows very minor losses, the marble top is a later associated example, and there is minor evidence of treated worm.
