Description

This handsome Regency pedestal cupboard, made in burr walnut around 1870, is a piece that is becoming increasingly rare to find. Shaped like a column, it features ebony strung panels to the front with beaded and moulded detailing, a working lock and key, and a plinth base. Recently re-polished by hand in our workshop while retaining its original colour, it shows one area of restoration to the bottom of the door, completed to a high standard.

WE ARE PLEASED TO OFFER THIS STUNNING PEDESTAL CUPBOARD WHICH ARE BECOMING INCREASINGLY RARE TO FIND, MADE IN BURR WALNUT WITH EBONY STRINGING.

SHAPED LIKE A COLUMN, THESE TYPE OF CUPBOARDS WOULD BE USED TO DISPLAY A BUST OR FLORAL ARRANGEMENT ON TOP AND PROVIDING STORAGE INSIDE WITH THE MEANS OF 2 SHELVES AND A SLOT RACK. OUR EXAMPLE HAS BEEN MADE IN WALNUT WITH BURR AND EBONY STRUNG PANELS TO THE FRONT, BEADED AND MOLDING DETAILING. WORKING LOCK AND KEY, ALL RAISED ON A PLINTH BASE.

RECENTLY RE-POLISHED BY HAND IN OUR WORKSHOP AND MAINTAINING IT’S ORIGINAL COLOUR. 1 AREA OF RESTORATION TO THE BOTTOM OF THE DOOR (PHOTOGRAPHED) WHICH HAS BEEN DONE TO A HIGH STANDARD. MINOR SURFACE MARKS TO WOODWORK IN LINE WITH AGE AND USE.
