Description

This Victorian mahogany writing slope, circa 1890, is a good quality brass bound box with real character. An inscribed brass plaque records its presentation to a Mr James Street in 1902 for his service in the Customs Service. The interior opens to reveal a black leather writing surface with golden tooling and coromandel surround, a pen tray and two slots holding ink wells, while the slope hinges both ways to reveal storage each side. Expected surface marks from everyday use remain.

INTERIOR OPENS TO REVEAL A BLACK LEATHER WRITING SURFACE WITH GOLDEN TOOLING, WITH COROMANDEL SURROUND. PEN TRAY AND 2 SLOTS CONTAINING INK WELLS. WRITING SLOPE HINGES BOTH WAYS TO REVEAL STORAGE EACH SIDE.
