Description

This handsome pair of French gilt cassolettes, circa 1880, offers a delightful metamorphic trick: the domed lids reverse to form candlesticks. Decorated with rams' heads and raised on shaped tripod bases, each is finished in light blue champlevé enamel with a Gothic tracery design in gold, deep blue and black, mounted on turned onyx bases. Superb quality throughout.
