Description

This fine pair of Swedish birch armchairs, circa 1930, shows Art Deco character with Empire Revival influences. The shaped backrests carry inset panels with an inlaid sunburst design, while rounded arms link down to turned ebonised decoration that contrasts beautifully with the golden birch. Later black leather seat coverings bear applied stud work, and each chair stands on four tapering legs. Minor surface marks to the woodwork are consistent with age.
