This Swedish painted pine strong box, circa 1840, is a fine small example of the kind once used to keep valuables safe. Shaped from rustic pine and painted black, the paint appearing original, it retains its original hinges, working lock and key. The protective strap work shows some old historical repairs, with minor losses expected to woodwork and paint, yet it still functions today as a good quality decorative piece.
