Description

This Swedish folk art painted box, made of good quality pine and dating to circa 1865, retains its original ragwork paint in crimson with blue painted strap work. A hand painted floral wreath decorates the lid, while the front is initialed and dated, though the last digit of the date has been scrubbed out. Metal bound with original metalwork, it opens to reveal storage space and a candle box compartment, showing expected surface marks and fading; the lock is present but without key.

LID OPENS TO REVEAL STORAGE SPACE AND CANDLE BOX COMPARTMENT.
