Description

This charming Chinese lacquered child's bed, carved in oriental hardwood and dating to circa 1890, is believed to have been made as a child's bed and exported from China. The pierced sides are decorated with carved flowers, each corner crowned with a dog of fo, and the piece retains its hard rattan base. With minor surface marks consistent with age, it could equally serve today as linen storage or the most unusual dog basket.

CHINESE EXPORT WHICH WE BELIEVE MAY HAVE BEEN MADE AS A CHILDS BED. CARVED PIERCED SIDES DECORATED WITH FLOWERS. EACH CORNER WITH A CARVED DOF OF FO. HARD RATTAN BASE.

IN TODAY’S AGE IT COULD BE USED AS STORAGE FOR LINEN, COULD EVEN FUNCTION AS THE MOST UNUSUAL DOG BASKET.
