Description

This 19th century Swedish birch cupboard, circa 1860, is a handsome piece of Gustavian craftsmanship. Veneered allover in tiger birch with a wonderful wheat colour and patina, it offers a double door cupboard with inset panels opening to a partially fitted interior of two drawers and three fixed shelves. Restorations to the woodwork have been carried out to a high standard, and the piece has recently been re-polished by hand in our workshop.

WE ARE PLEASED TO OFFER THIS BEAUTIFULLY SWEDISH PIECE OF CRAFTSMANSHIP, MAKING IT A PRACTICAL ANTIQUE FOR EVERYDAY USE.

FANTASTIC COLOUR AND PATINA, VENEERED ALLOVER IN A TIGER BIRCH. RECTANGULAR TOP WITH ROUNDED FRONT EDGE AND MOULDING. BELOW A DOUBLE DOOR CUPBOARD WITH INSET PANELS. DOORS OPEN TO REVEAL A PARTIALLY FITTED INTERIOR OF 2 DRAWERS AND 3 FIXED SHELVES, WHICH HAS BEEN LATER PAINTED. SHAPED FREIZE AROUND THE FRONT FEET AND SIDES.

WORKING LOCK AND LATCH.

RESTORATIONS TO WOODWORK WHICH HAS BEEN DONE TO A HIGH STANDARD, EXPECTED SURFACE MARKS IN LINE WITH AGE AND USE. RECENTLY RE-POLISHED BY HAND IN OUR WORKSHOP.
