Description

This Danish dome top coffer, made of solid oak around 1790, is a handsome piece of Baroque character. Ornate strap work runs across the lid, ends and middle, continuing into the carrying handles, while traces of original hand painted gilt motifs remain to the front. The lid opens to reveal a partially fitted interior with a candle box, and the original key still works the lock. Showing expected minor age shrinkage and surface marks, it remains structurally strong and ready for everyday use.
